Post-Holiday Reboot

Nov 6, 2020

Phew! Halloween—the holiday that has become a candy extravaganza—is over!! Perhaps some of us managed to pull off a “Switch Witch” and maybe others were able to offer fresh fruits, a clean baked good, and/or clean snacks or even “cleaner” candy. I applaud all of the mamas who have found ways to enjoy this fun day of costumes and face paint without completely giving into unhealthy societal norms.

Of course, the holiday season is just getting started! We’ve got plenty of special days coming up where food tends to be a big focus (although thankfully not candy!). And I’m not saying not to enjoy these days!! Surrounding ourselves with our loved ones and yummy food is a great blessing and self care is important. This is especially true after the year that 2020 has been.

It’s Not About Deprivation

For the record, this blog is not about deprivation. It’s about acknowledging that even when eating healthy foods within our typical parameters, many of us will likely eat more grains, more fats, possibly extra calories, extra maple syrup, etc during this time of year. And if we’re in a place where we can do it and still feel good, fantastic!! We do it and get back on track afterward. As I shared in a previous blog, Help Your Child Enjoy the Holidays While Healing , there are lots of ways to prepare for these situations. However, if you find that you’ve indulged a bit too much and are ready to get back into a strong wellness routine after the holidays and into the new year, I’m here to cheer you on!

Cleansing

In January, I am launching the 8 Day Reboot! I saw great success with our 5 Day Reboot, and decided to extend it three additional days. This reboot is intended to help you get back into a healthy routine, reclaim your energy and vitality, renew your faith in healing, gain confidence, and more! I am so excited!

While a cleanse/reboot can be about “starting over” after times of overindulgence, cleanses are generally just a great tool to have in our toolboxes! I talk about some basic premises of cleansing in our Spring Cleansing blog, but the truth is, our bodies are up against a lot and sometimes need our deliberate support!

Every person on planet Earth has a viral and toxic load because we all take in a variety of toxins and pathogens as we go through life. These harmful substances collect and cause all kinds of chronic, mysterious illnesses and symptoms. At any given time, some people exhibit symptoms and some do not. When symptoms are present it is because the body is overwhelmed by viruses and toxins. If we can lower the load while also supporting our bodies with the nutrients they need, we can eliminate the symptoms, and begin to turn around the health problems.

… people need at least the sound information that keeping the blood thinner with more fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens and lower fat is the one way to stand a chance of detoxing the toxins our bodies create as natural byproduct and waste from their internal processes, never mind detoxing the outside toxins we’re exposed to on a daily basis. – Anthony William

Anthony refers to our liver as our “body’s detox powerhouse” because it truly takes the brunt of the toxins we encounter in modern life. Sadly, our livers are up against a lot! And when our livers become overburdened, our toxic loads increase even more, resulting in more symptoms.

Thankfully, we can provide the support our bodies need to help ourselves to heal and recover. A reboot is a great and powerful way to get our bodies on the right track!

Your body has such an incredible power to heal – it just needs your assistance to make that possible. – Anthony William

Let me say that again — healing is possible!!

Looking for some detox tips? Consider a cleansing morning!

Medical Medium Morning Cleanse

  1. Drink 16 to 32 ounces of lemon or lime water upon waking.
  2. Wait 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. Drink 16 to 32oz fresh celery juice on an empty stomach
  4. Wait 15 to 30 minutes.
  5. Fresh fruit breakfast (most cleansing option) OR steamed potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, winter squash, millet, or oatmeal.
  6. Drink at least 16oz of water or coconut water

Starting your day with a cleansing morning helps allow your liver, other organs, lymphatic system, and bloodstream to perform their ideal detoxification and improve the healing process! It also helps to set the tone for the day and often helps people stick to healthy habits throughout the remainder of the day.

Always know that there are options for wherever you are on your journey. For someone who is new to this information or lifestyle, switching away from a SAD breakfast (Standard American Diet; think eggs, bacon, toast) and moving toward other cooked options such as oatmeal or yams is a great start! Eventually, over time you can aim to transition to juice and/or a smoothie and/or fresh fruit (feel free to be creative here – for example, smoothie bowls are delicious!).

If you’ve been living a “Medical Medium” lifestyle and need some support with when/how to go fat-free or raw, I also welcome you to also join the 8 Day Reboot! I am here to educate, encourage, and answer questions for people in all different phases of healing.
